Configuration
1. Basic Configuration
Edit config.lua to set tire behavior parameters:
2. Cold Tire Temperature
Config.tempTiresCold = 100.0 -- Temperature when no one is in the carThis is the baseline/ambient temperature tires return to when the vehicle is unoccupied.
3. Grip Loss Ranges
The system uses temperature ranges to determine grip levels:
-- 60% Grip Lost (Cold Tires)
Config.Min20 = 20.0 -- Minimum temperature
Config.Max20 = 40.0 -- Maximum temperature
-- 40% Grip Lost (Warming Up)
Config.Min40 = 40.0
Config.Max40 = 60.0
-- 20% Grip Lost (Getting Optimal)
Config.Min60 = 60.0
Config.Max60 = 80.0
-- 0% Grip Lost (Optimal Temperature)
Config.Min80 = 80.0 -- Optimal range starts hereTemperature Zones Explained:
20-40°C: Very cold tires, 60% grip reduction
40-60°C: Cold tires, 40% grip reduction
60-80°C: Warming tires, 20% grip reduction
80°C+: Optimal temperature, full grip
4. Vehicle-Specific Configuration
Each F1 car model can have custom tire physics:
5. Configuration Parameters Explained
5.1 Brake System Parameters
breakHeatRate (0.0 - 1.0)
How quickly brake discs heat up during braking
Higher = faster heating
Recommended: 0.2 - 0.3
breakCoolRateMoving (0.0 - 1.0)
Brake cooling rate while vehicle is moving
Higher = faster cooling (more airflow)
Recommended: 0.1 - 0.15
breakCoolRateStopped (0.0 - 1.0)
Brake cooling rate while vehicle is stationary
Should be lower than moving rate
Recommended: 0.03 - 0.08
breakAccelerationMult (0.0 - 1.0)
Multiplier for brake pressure effect
Affects how much brake force generates heat
Recommended: 0.04 - 0.06
tempMinBreaks (0.0 - 1.0)
Brake temperature threshold before affecting tires
Prevents instant tire heating
Recommended: 0.05 - 0.1
5.2 Tire Heating Parameters
BreaksHeat (°C per frame)
Temperature added to tires when brakes are hot
Applied when brake temp exceeds
tempMinBreaksRecommended: 0.1 - 0.3
SteeringHeat (°C per frame)
Temperature added during cornering
Applied when steering angle and speed conditions met
Recommended: 0.3 - 0.8
steeringAngle (degrees)
Minimum steering wheel angle to generate tire heat
Lower = easier to heat tires in corners
Recommended: 15 - 25
minSpeedSteering (game units, ~km/h ÷ 4)
Minimum speed required for cornering to heat tires
Prevents slow-speed turns from heating
Value of 15.0 ≈ 60 km/h
Recommended: 10.0 - 20.0
5.3 Temperature Limits
tempTiresMax (°C)
Maximum tire temperature
Tires won't exceed this value
Recommended: 100 - 110
tempTiresMin (°C)
Minimum tire temperature (ambient)
Tires won't go below this value
Recommended: 15 - 25
Cooling Parameters
SlowSpeed (game units, ~km/h ÷ 4)
Speed threshold below which tires cool down
Value of 30.0 ≈ 120 km/h
Recommended: 25.0 - 35.0
TireCoolRateSlow (°C)
Amount of cooling when below SlowSpeed
Applied periodically based on temperature percentage
Recommended: 0.1 - 0.3
